3D head-tracking game on DSi |
|

Japanese game developer Feel-Good has developed a DSi-Ware game that uses the Nintendo DSi's camera to track your head, and move the game world appropriately. End result is a more accurate 3D world that changes relative to your perspective.
This first game is a "find the hidden item" type game (using the perspective mechanic to identify letters only at certain levels), but it's a great example of what can be done on relatively low-end hardware.
This is reminiscent of a similar idea pitched by WiiMote hacker Johnny Lee almost 3 years ago:

SNK Playmore's online Neo Geo Museum |

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Neo Geo AES and MVS hardware, SNK Playmore have opened their official Neo Geo Museum online.
A complete title listing is available at the moment, and other media is being added to it over time (advertising media, posters, etc).
This adds to the news from a few days back about an official line of anniversary T-Shirts. It's great to see games companies embracing their heritage and celebrating the success of old.
Not quite up to the standard of System16.com or ArcadeFlyers.com, but still a great effort from an official company compared to what others have (or rather haven't) done in the past.

SEGA releasing "Welcome to Violence" Wii Bundle |

Countering the recent ignorance of a certain South Australia Attorney-General with humour, SEGA are releasing their "Welcome to Violence" bundle for the Wii, due March 11.
This is an Australian exclusive, for RRP $109.95. Your money gets you first person shooter "The Conduit", mega violent beat 'em up "Mad World", and the zombie-blasting hilarity that is "House of the Dead: Overkill" (review here).
Great to see an adult games pack for a "kids console".

Super Street Fighter IV |

Old news by now, but Super Street Fighter 4 is due in a couple of months.
T. Hawk, DeeJay, Adon, Cody, Guy, Dudley, Ibuki and Makoto are all returning, and new character Juri (Korean Tae Kwon Do fighter) is added. Strongly rumoured (and there's a big hint at the end of that video above) is another new comer, Hakan, a Turkish oil wrestler, rounding it up to 10 new characters added on to the existing roster.
Each character will have two Ultra... [Read More]

Dreamcast loading games from SD card |
|
Feb 18, 2010 - 6:58 PM - by elvis

Russian console hackers have managed to get a Sega Dreamcast booting games from an SD card. Currently a boot CD is needed to load the initial game loader up, but there's talk of flashing this to DC BIOS chips into the future. It's still in early phases (CDDA audio is not supported yet, and only about 50% of games work), but it's getting there.
Serial to SD schematics here:

What does this mean? A few things:
1) Dreamcasts with dead read lasers will... [Read More]
